The Palau will host on January 31 and February 1 congress "Accessibility to cities heritage of humanity", co-organized by the Group of World Heritage Cities of Spain (GCPHE), Tarragona City Council and Fundación ACS.

During the event, which will take place in the Genius room of the Palau Feral and Congresses, cases of good practice in the cities that make up the GCPHE will be exhibited, there will be different debate tables and presentations, activities and workshops will be offered at around this key aspect in heritage management. Among the activities and conferences, aspects such as public-private alliances to promote accessibility, the European framework in the matter or the potential of new technologies to promote the accessibility of heritage will be discussed.

The GCPHE has different projects around accessibility as one of the mainstays in its commitment to heritage, alongside education, security, the environment and the conservation and signage of monuments and sites. Within this framework, the Group has developed different actions, such as the "Accessible Cities" application, a web page of accessible routes or a guide of good practices for member cities.

In Tarragona, precisely improving the accessibility of the world heritage monuments is at the center of a project already underway to rehabilitate and improve the accessibility of the Colony Forum, recipient of 3 MEUR of Next Generation funds -EU granted through the Impulsa Patrimonio plan of the Ministry of Tourism for the GCPHE; and another project to improve the accessibility, restoration and museography of the Pretori Tower, which is eligible for the Next Generation-EU Funds and which is pending resolution.
