Tarragona, home of the Mediterranean Games and the Bodybuilding & Fitness Championship

IFBB Catalunya has been holding the Territorial Bodybuilding & Fitness Championship for 25 years. The last editions took place in Cornellà del Llobregat (Barcelona). This is the first edition that the competition moves to the city of Tarragona. One of the reasons that has driven the change has been the Capital of Tarragona in the Mediterranean Games 2018, which will begin next June. The IFFB International is a collaborating entity for the Mediterranean Games.

In 2009 the Mayor of Tarragona, Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, received a delegation from this federation headed by the National President, Mr. Jose Ramos, the Honorary President, sr. José Donato Muñoz, and the President of the Catalan federation, Mr. Carlos Ramos. The entourage presented the city with the IFBB Gold Medal for being a key city in the development of Catalan bodybuilding. The pioneer of this sport was José Donato from Tarragona, both in Catalonia and in Spain. Thanks to his impetus, Tarragona hosted international athletes for long periods of time.
