5.000 PEOPLE EXPECTED AT THE CELEBRATION OF THE NATIONAL DANCE COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND

Today begins the National Dance Competition with three days full of movement, passion and excitement for dance.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, more than 5.000 people are expected to pass through National Dance Contest which is held in the facilities of the Palau de Congressos de Tarragona. An essential event for dance lovers that has been organized in the city since 2006 and every year the number of participants grows.

On this occasion, more than 1.300 dancers from more than 100 different schools will participate in the competition. A total of 960 performances that will take place from the early hours of this Friday, May 4, until late at night on Sunday, May 7.

The city of Tarragona will be the big beneficiary of the CND, as every year the city's hotel rooms have been filled with participants from all over Spain, as well as France, Belgium and Andorra. Among the participants we also find representation from Tarragona with the Scenic Dansa dance school of the Sacred Heart school.

New categories

As a novelty, in this edition two new categories. The category Diversity, for people with functional diversity, born under the motto "the dance is for everyone and for everyone". The category has also been opened senior, where we find a classical ballet group from Sitges with participants aged between 65 and 70 years.

European Dance Championship

The Spanish Association of Dance Professionals, organizers of the CND España contest, will be in charge of organizing the European Dance Championship next November, and have chosen Tarragona and especially the facilities of the Tarragona Fair and Congress Center to carry it out. Orión Picó, co-organizer of the events and vice-president of the association, highlighted the facilities of the Fair and Congress Center as the ideal theater to be able to carry out events of this type and magnitude. An essential element to be able to work with maximum professionalism and efficiency in events that involve such a high number of participants and number of performances.

The European Dance Championship will bring participants from Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, England, Israel, among others. A meeting will grow the city of Tarragona by more than 4.000 people on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of November. On this occasion, it is expected to reach 600 performances in three days.
