Four Tarragona players qualify for the 2017 Pole World Championships

The second edition of the national Pole Sport competition doubles the number of entries. With a total of 140 athletes from all over Spain, Switzerland and Belgium. He highlighted the high Catalan representation both in terms of registration and good results of the performances.

The influx has also increased exponentially in number of visitors. Among the public, athletes, jury and organization have exceeded 800 people. The hotels of the city have welcomed all the participants who have spent the night in the city of Tarragona. A very positive impact for the city. Tarragona is positioned worldwide as a benchmark in this sport and at the same time achieves a positive challenge for the surrounding businesses.

The competition was born in 2016 thanks to Salima Peippo, organizer of the event, and her collaborators, including Carolina Zoyo and Christian Fernández. The organizers have presented their candidacy to host the 2018 Pole Sport World Cup in the city of Tarragona. If held, it would take place in July next year. The celebration of the event would welcome the best athletes of Pole worldwide in a very intense and exciting weekend.

From the organization are very satisfied with how the competition has evolved and its great growth in just one year. Thinking about the 2018 competition, they say that it will be necessary to extend the duration of the event from 2 to 3 days. This ensures that participants have time to rest in good condition for the next day. In addition, they can enjoy free time to get to know the city.

High level of competitors

Of the 140 entrants to the competition, 17 athletes have qualified for the World Cup to be held in the Netherlands next July. Twelve classified in the Pole Sport modality, two in Para Pole, two in Artistic Pole and one classified by Ultra Pole. The qualifiers came from Barcelona, ​​Tarragona, La Coruña and the Canary Islands.

Of the Tarragona has classified four athletes for the world championship: Albert Amores (novice boys), Carolina Arlandez (junior), Filipi Camargo (senior men) and Erin Clark (parapole).

Dimitry Politov, end of the competition party

To end the competition was scheduled on ShowCase by Dimitry Politov, one of the best athletes in the world in Pole Sport. Unfortunately the athlete had to shorten his performance due to an injury. Still, he left us with some spectacular glimpses of what he is capable of doing.

Pole is a sport that is creating a large community of fans. Catalonia is one of the regions where the number of fans is growing more both in terms of leisure and sports. In this sense, the schools of Pole Ingravity Studio by Barcelona and Art Move Studio from Tarragona (Vila-seca) received the award for “motivating schools”. Between the two schools there are more than 25 athletes each in the 2nd National Pole Sport Championship.
